These are some of the easiest bars I have ever made. They are basically like Rice Krispie bars, but use Cheerios, and add some peanut butter and M&Ms. Simple enough, right? They are a very tasty treat, and a good one for summer since you won’t need to heat up the oven.
I made this recipe a few months ago when I had family over for game night. It tasted great, but warning, it is a little messy! Since the recipe uses a box mix to make the brownies and a jar of caramel sauce for the topping, it really doesn’t take long to put together.
I love to take pictures and I definitely take plenty of them. I’m always so thankful that I am in the digital age and don’t have to deal with film. I can easily take 100 pictures of a sunset or a day out and about. That would be about 4 rolls of film, plus the time waiting to get them developed.
Have you ever been pulled over? Did you get a ticket, or maybe just a warning? Did you know you were violating a traffic law at the time? I’ve done a lot of driving in my life. I don’t mind it really. As I threw out in a previous post, I usually drive about 5 over the speed limit. Not a big deal. Usually keeps me in the flow of traffic. I would guess I’ve clocked around 100,000 miles as a driver. In that time I have been pulled over exactly one time. Once. Uno. Want to know why?
This past Friday night I went out for a walk. It was a decent night and I had been taking it easy all week so was ready to stroll about for a while. I started off heading East, then eventually decided to head back home. As I turned back West, the sky greeted me with some beautiful colors! I could tell it was going to be a gorgeous sunset. As I neared home, I checked the time and realized I would have time to get out to the lake to watch the sunset over it. I drove out there and found the perfect spot to watch the sunset over Iowa’s biggest lake. It was stunning. I took near 100 photos, but have narrowed it down to some of my favorites. Hope you enjoy!
Poppyseed Buns are one of my family’s favorites. Whenever we traveled home from my grandparent’s, my grandma would make a dozen of these and stick them in our travel food bag, usually with grapes, Fritos or Bugles, and frosted animal cookies. My brother and I learned to make them and would put some together when camping with friends. Setting up an assembly line is the fastest way to get these tasty sandwiches put together.
I had every intention of getting a new blog up today. I was going to go fishing first, soak up some sun, hopefully catch a bass or two. Then come home and relax and put up another recipe blog. Well, every once in a while, life likes to remind you that you aren’t actually in charge. When I woke up this morning I was experiencing a lot of pain in the lower right side of my abdomen. I started experiencing other symptoms and started googling them. I had myself convinced that I had appendicitis. I had my boyfriend take me to the ER. The pain got way worse, to the point that I was laying in the bed and screaming. The doctor gave me one look and realized I was….passing a kidney stone! Oh joy. They gave me pain meds several different times and they never worked. Finally they switched to something a little stronger, the pain subsided, and I fell asleep.
Happy 4th of July everyone! I saved this recipe a few months ago when I saw it floating around on Facebook. I knew at some point I’d find a good occasion to make it. Well, what says America and the 4th better than Rice Krispie treats and S’mores? Why not combine them? I met some friends for the annual Yankee Doodle Pops celebration. Even though there are vendors available, the lines are usually very long considering there are 100,000 people and only 8 food stands. I offered to bring supper for everyone and made these for dessert.
I enjoy establishing traditions. Sometimes these traditions are based around holidays, or family gatherings. Whatever the case, they are something to look forward to throughout the year. Tomorrow night I get to enjoy one of my favorite summertime traditions. In celebration of the 4th, the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra puts on a concert called Yankee Doodle Pops.
